في عام 1947 انضمت ليلي دوس إلى الامم المتحدة وكانت اول امرأة عربية تعمل كمذيعة لراديو الامم المتحدة في الشرق الوسط.
استمرت في عملها بهيئة الامم المتحدة لمدة 36 عاما حتى وصلت الى منصب مساعد الامين العام.
قبل انضمامها للعمل بالامم المتحدة، عملت كمذيعة في هيئة الإذاعة المصرية واستاذة الأدب الإنجليزي والكتابة البداعية بجامعة القاهرة.
Leila Doss joined the UN in 1947, and was the first woman to
work for the UN radio division in the Middle East. She worked
with the UN for 36 years and had advanced to the position of
assistant UN secretary. Before joining the UN, she worked as a
radio presenter for the Egyptian Broadcasting Corporation and
as professor of English literature and creative writing at the
University of Cairo.
