سيرة القدّيس القمّص بيشوي كامل في السنكسار

يسعدني أن أنشر نصّ سيرة القدّيس القمّص بيشوي كامل، باللغتين العربيّة والإنجليزيّة، والتي يمكن قراءتها في سنكسار 12 برمهات (21 مارس) في عيد نياحته. وهي من داخل الملف الذي قُدِّم للمجمع المقدّس، فقام باعتماد قداسته في 9 يونيو الماضي 2022م.

 

في مثل هذا اليوم أيضًا نعيّد بتذكار نياحة الأب الجليل القمّص بيشوي كامل، كاهن كنيسة مارجرجس سبورتنج بالإسكندريّة.

 وُلِدَ بدمنهور في 6 ديسمبر 1931م، من أسرة مسيحيّة تقيّة، ثم انتقل للإسكندريّة للدراسة الجامعيّة، وحصل على بكالوريوس العلوم في عام 1951م، ثم بكالوريوس الإكليريكيّة في عام 1955، وأيضًا دبلومة في علم النفس..

 بدأ يشارك في خدمة مدارس الأحد بكنيسة السيّدة العذراء بمحرّم بك، حتّى صار أمينًا لخدمة الشباب بالإسكندريّة. ثم سيم كاهنًا على الكنيسة الناشئة التي على اسم الشهيد مارجرجس بسبورتنج، في 2 ديسمبر 1959م.

 

تميّز القمّص بيشوي بنقاوة السيرة، والخدمة الناريّة، وحُبّ الصلاة والخلوة، وروح الأبوّة المملوءة بالحنوّ والتشجيع..

 كان يقف أمام المذبح في القدّاس، يصلّي بحرارة، كنارٍ ملتهبة. وكأنّه قد اشتعل بنار الذبيحة الإلهيّة المذبوحة عن حياة العالم.. وكانت خبرته الغنيّة مع القداس الإلهي وقودًا روحيًّا لا ينضُب، يُشعِل قلبه الوديع بالمحبّة والقداسة والفرح، وروح البذل.. وكان يقول: "تكمُن فائدة حضورنا للقدّاس عندما نكتشف سرّ الحُبّ في الذبيحة، وأنّها تَجَسُّد للحُبّ الإلهي، فينفطر قلبنا حُبًّا في ذلك الحُبّ الذي حضرنا لنراه مذبوحًا لأجلنا على المذبح، فتنسحق نفوسنا وقلوبنا أمام هذا السرّ الإلهي."

 

 تمكّن القمّص بيشوي كامل بنعمة الله، من بناء سبع كنائس جديدة في مدينة الإسكندريّة، في ظلّ ظروف معاكسة بالغة الصعوبة، واهتمّ بتزويدها بآباء كهنة وشمامسة من أبنائه الروحيّين.. كمّا أسّس أول كنيسة في الغرب الأمريكي عام 1970م، ثم كنيسة أخرى في نيوجيرسي في عام 1974م.

انشغل أبونا بيشوي بانتشار ملكوت الله. فكان يسعى وراء كلّ نفس حتى تتذوّق حنان حضن الآب السماوي، وتتمتّع بالاتحاد بالمسيح.

اهتمّ بالطفولة، فكان أول من افتتح دارَ حضانة فى حضن الكنيسة في عام 1972م، حتى يُرضعهم اللبن العديم الغش.. كما افتتح في عام 1976 ملجأً للأولاد الذين يتعرّضون لظروف قاسية، وأسماه "بيت مارجرجس".

 

    تتلمذ على كتابِهِ المقدس، ففتح الرب ذهنه، واكتشف كنوزه، وغاصَ في أغواره.. فأخرج العديد من النبذات والكتيبات الروحيّة العميقة، والتي اتّسمت بطابع البساطة والرقّة، مع غِنى الروح فيها.

 

كان المَرضَى أكثر الناس تمتُّعًا بحنانه. فكان يقضى الليالي واقفًا بجانبهم يصلّي، ويشجّعهم على حمل الصليب بشكر وفرح. وكان يُطلِق على مرض السرطان اسم "مرض الفردوس"، إذ فيه يتهيًّا الإنسان للانطلاق إلى السماء.. وسمح الله له في سنواته الأخيرة أن يُصاب بهذا المرض، وظلّ مستمرّا في خدمته الأمينة على الرغم من ضعف الجسد، حتّى النهاية.

 

    احتمل صليب المرض بشكر وتسبيح، وانطلقت روحه إلى الأخدار السمائيّة يوم الأربعاء 12 برمهات، الموافق 21 مارس 1979م.. وقد حضر الصلاة على جسده الطاهر، قداسة البابا شنودة الثالث، مع العديد من الآباء الأساقفة والكهنة، وما يقرب من خمسين ألف شخص، ملأوا الكنيسة وفناءها والشوارع المحيطة بها. وأُودِعَ جسده في مزار خاصّ بكنيسة مارجرجس سبورتنج.

 

+ نحن بالمعموديّة أخذنا كلّ النعَم والبركات والإمكانيّات، وبالتوبة ننتفع بهذه الإمكانيّات.

 + نحن حاملون المسيح في حياتنا، والكنيسة تؤمن أن المسيح لا يفارقنا أبدًا.. هذا الإيمان يعني أنّنا صِرنا أكثر من أنفسنا. يعنّي أنّ هناك إضافة إلهيّة غير محدودة لبشريّتنا المحدودة.

 + المسيحيّة ليست أخلاقيّات، بل هي حياة المسيح في البشر.. الأخلاقيّات بدون المسيح هي تضخيم للذّات، لكن في المسيح هي رائحة المسيح الذكيّة.

+ الكنيسة تحنو على العالم، لتنتشل النفوس التي لاطمتها أمواج العالم لتغرّقها. فالكنيسة سفينة إنقاذ وسفينة نجاة، تعمل عمل السامري الصالح مع كلّ الأجناس.

 

 + العمل الأوّل للكنيسة اليوم هو أن تنسكب على ذبيحة إيمان أولادها (في2: 17)، بالصلاة والصوم والتعليم والقدّاسات، ثمّ ترسلهم إلى العالم، ليخدموا ويحتملوا ويحبّوا إلى مالا نهاية.. إلى إمكانيّة المسيح الموجود فيهم.

 وقد اعترف المجمّع المقدّس للكنيسة القبطيّة الأرثوذكسيّة بقداسته يوم 9 يونيو عام 2022م. بركة صلاته تكون معنا، ولربّنا المجد الدائم إلى الأبد، آمين.

The text of the addition to the Synaxarion for the 12th day of the Coptic month of Baramhat for

St. Abouna Pishoy Kamel

(Included in the file submitted to the Holy Synod for his canonization)

On this day, we commemorate the departure of the revered father   and hegumen, Abouna Pishoy Kamel, priest of St. Georges Church in Sporting, Alexandria, Egypt.

 

He was born on December 6, 1931 in Damanhur, to a pious Christian family, and later moved to Alexandria to attend university. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951, followed by a Bachelor of Theology in 1955 from the Coptic Orthodox Theological Seminary. He also completed a Diploma in Psychology.

He began his service in Sunday School at the Church of the Virgin St. Mary in Muharram Bek, Alexandria, and eventually became the leader of all the youth services in Alexandria. On December 2, 1959, he was ordained a priest for the newly founded Church named after St. George the Martyr in Sporting, Alexandria.

Hegumen Abouna Pishoy Kamel was known for his purity of life, fiery service, love of prayer and solitude, and spirit of fatherhood full of compassion and encouragement.

 

During the Divine Liturgy, he would stand before the altar praying fervently like a blazing fire, as if he had been touched by the fire of the divine sacrifice, slain for the life of the world. His rich experience with the Divine Liturgy was a never-ending spiritual fuel, igniting his meek heart with love, holiness, joy, and the spirit of giving. He used to say, "We benefit from attending the Divine Liturgy when we discover the mystery of love in the Sacrifice, and that it is the embodiment of divine love. Our heart overflows with love for that Love we came to see slain for us on the altar. Our souls and hearts are exceedingly humbled before this divine mystery."

 

By the grace of God, Hegumen Abouna Pishoy Kamel managed to build seven new churches in the city of Alexandria, despite a very harsh environment and many hurdles along the way. He provided these churches with priests and deacons from his spiritual children. He also founded the first Coptic Orthodox church in western United States of America in 1970, followed by another one in the east in New Jersey in 1974.

 

Abouna Pishoy was unwaveringly focused on spreading the Kingdom of God. He sought after every soul so that it might taste the tenderness of the heavenly Father’s bosom and enjoy unity with Christ.

 

He paid special attention to children and their services. He was the first to open a nursery in the church in 1972 so that children could be nurtured with the pure milk of the faith. He also established a shelter in 1976 for children going through hard times, and he called it "St. George’s House."

 

He was a student of the Bible. The Lord opened his mind, and he discovered its treasures, and delved into its depths. He wrote many deep spiritual booklets, characterized by simplicity and gentleness, while rich in the spirit.

 

The sick enjoyed his kindness and compassion more than anyone else. He would spend long nights standing up beside them, praying. He would encourage them to carry the cross with thanksgiving and joy. He called cancer the "Paradise Disease" because in it, man is prepared for his departure to heaven. God allowed him, in his final years, to have this disease. He continued in his faithful service despite the weakness of the body until the end.

 

He bore the cross of illness with gratitude and praise until his soul departed to the heavenly rest on March 21st, 1979, the 12th of Baramhat in the Coptic calendar. His Holiness Pope Shenouda III attended the funeral prayer, along with numerous bishops and priests. Approximately fifty thousand people filled the church, its courtyard, and the surrounding streets to pay their respects. His body was laid in a special shrine at the Church of St. George in Sporting, Alexandria.

 

● Through baptism, we received all the graces, blessings, and capabilities, and through repentance, we benefit from them.

● We are the bearers of Christ in our lives. The Church believes that Christ never leaves us. This belief means that we have become more than ourselves. It means that there is an unlimited divine addition to our limited humanity.

● Christianity is not morality, but rather the life of Christ in people. Ethics without Christ is self-aggrandizement, but in Christ, it is the sweet fragrance of Christ.

● The Church demonstrates compassion towards the world, rescuing souls stricken by the waves of this world which are trying to drown them. The Church is a ship of salvation and rescue, doing the work of the Good Samaritan with all races.

● The primary mission of the Church today is to pour ourselves out as a drink offering on the sacrifice of faith for her children (Phil 2:17) through prayer, fasting, teaching, and liturgies. Then She sends them to the world to serve, to endure, and to love endlessly... to the potential of Christ present in them.

On June 3rd, 2022, the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church declared Abouna Pishoy Kamel a saint. May the blessing of his prayers be with us all, and glory be to God forever. Amen.
