رصد بيتر تادرس الناشط القبطي ورئيس الحركة القبطية الأسترالية، أوضاع كارثة الفيضانات التي ضربت السودان، من خلال جولة قام بها بمناطق مدنية بورتسودان، حيث غمرت السيول عدد من القري وتسببت في في انهيار سد أربعات وجرف قرى بأكملها ، وترجع أهمية سد أربعات إلى تخزين مياه الأمطار الموسمية وهو الخزان الذي تعتمد عليه بورتسودان في إمدادها بالمياه..
وقال تادرس: أن الأوضاع مأساوية في السودان في ظل صمت غير مفهوم من المجتمع الدولي، ففي الوقت الذى يعاني الشعب السودانى من ويلات الحرب الأهلية لأكثر من عام وأدى لتشريد الملايين وتدمير حياتهم، جاءت كارثة السيول لتزيد من معاناتهم بعد تدمير عشرات القري وتشريد الألاف دون وجود مأوي لهم.
وتابع ان السودان تفتقد للبنية التحتية الأساسية لاستيعاب هذه المياه، مما جعل شوارع المدن عبارة عن أنهار، أغرقت الالاف من الممتلكات، ووفيات واصابة المئات، في مشهد يكشف عن الصمت الدولي وهو مشهد يكشف الوجه القبيح الغائب عن الإنسانية في انقاذ هذا الشعب الذى بات يفتقد لأدني معاني حقوق الانسان.
كما رصد تادرس دور الكنيسة القبطية الارثوذكسية برئاسة نيافة الأنبا صرابامون اسقف عطبرة وأم درمان، في تقديم الدعم للنازحين من دمار الحرب، وفتح أبوابها للقيام بدورها في خدمة الإنسانية ومساعدة المحتاجين، وهو أمر أصيل في الكنيسة القبطية منذ عصورًا طويلة
وناشد بيتر تادرس المجتمع الدولي العمل معا والتدخل السريع لإنقاذ الملايين بالسودان من جراء هذه الفيضانات الكارثية، وسرعة تقديم الدعم اللوجيستى من مواد الغذاء والدعم الطبي، وإيجاد مأوي سريع وإنقاذ الأطفال، كما ناشد سرعة التدخل لوقف الحرب الأهلية التي دمرت السودان وقضت على أمال التقدم، وشردت الملايين في عدة دول .
Peter Tadros monitors the flood disaster in Sudan and calls on the community to intervene humanitarianly to save millions
Peter Tadros, the Coptic activist and head of the Australian Coptic Movement, monitored the flood disaster that struck Sudan, through a tour he made in the urban areas of Port Sudan, where the floods flooded a number of villages and caused the collapse of the Arbaat Dam and swept away entire villages. The importance of the Arbaat Dam is due to storing seasonal rainwater, which is the reservoir that Port Sudan depends on to supply it with water.
Tadros said: The situation is tragic in Sudan in light of the incomprehensible silence of the international community. At a time when the Sudanese people are suffering from the scourge of civil war for more than a year, which has led to the displacement of millions and the destruction of their lives, the flood disaster came to increase their suffering after destroying dozens of villages and displacing thousands without shelter for them.
He added that Sudan lacks the basic infrastructure to absorb this water, which has turned the streets of cities into rivers, flooding thousands of properties, and killing and injuring hundreds, in a scene that reveals the international silence, a scene that reveals the ugly face of humanity absent in saving this people who now lack the most basic meanings of human rights.
Tadros also monitored the role of the Coptic Orthodox Church, headed by His Grace Bishop Serapamon, Bishop of Atbara and Omdurman, in providing support to those displaced from the devastation of war, and opening its doors to play its role in serving humanity and helping the needy, which is something that has been inherent in the Coptic Church for ages.
Peter Tadros called on the international community to work together and intervene quickly to save millions in Sudan from these catastrophic floods, and to quickly provide logistical support in the form of food and medical support, and to find rapid shelter and save children. He also called for rapid intervention to stop the civil war that destroyed Sudan and destroyed hopes for progress, and displaced millions in several countries.
