احتفلت سفارة الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بالقاهرة بالذكرى الـ250 لاستقلال الولايات المتحدة، خلال حفل استضافه القائم بالأعمال روبرت سيلفرمان في حرم الجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة بميدان التحرير.
 
وشهد الحفل حضور عدد من الوزراء والمحافظين وكبار المسؤولين والدبلوماسيين المصريين، إلى جانب قادة الأعمال والشخصيات الدينية والإعلاميين وعدد من نواب البرلمان المصري والفنانين وأصدقاء الولايات المتحدة. وممثلين عن المؤسسات الدينية المصرية،
 
كما حضر عن الكنيسة القبطية الأرثوذكسية كلا من نيافة الأنبا مرقس مطران شبرا الخيمة، ونيافة الأنبا إكليمندس، الأسقف العام لكنائس ألماظة ومدينة الأمل وشرق مدينة نصر وجاردينيا وومثل لجنة المشاركة المجتمعية بالعلاقات العامة بالمجمع المقدس،.
 
وتأتي الاحتفالية ضمن سلسلة فعاليات "Freedom 250" التي تنظمها السفارة الأمريكية على مدار عام 2026، احتفاءً بمرور قرنين ونصف على استقلال الولايات المتحدة، وبالإنجازات والشراكات التي تجمعها مع مختلف دول العالم، وفي مقدمتها مصر.
 
كما شارك في الاحتفال الدكتور حسين عيسى، نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء للشؤون الاقتصادية، نيابةً عن رئيس مجلس الوزراء الدكتور مصطفى مدبولي، حيث نقل تهنئة الحكومة المصرية إلى الولايات المتحدة قيادةً وحكومةً وشعبًا، مؤكدًا عمق العلاقات المصرية الأمريكية وما تشهده من تعاون وشراكة استراتيجية قائمة على الاحترام المتبادل والمصالح المشتركة.
 
قال القائم بأعمال السفير الأمريكي فى مصر، روبرت سيلفرمان إن السفارة الأمريكية احتفلت مساء اليوم بـ عيد الاستقلال الـ250 فى مكان ايقوني له دلالة رمزية وهو الجامعة الأمريكية فى القاهرة، مضيفا أنه تخرج منها.
 
وأكد أن مصر والولايات المتحدة لديهما الكثير من القواسم المشتركة، فكلاهما دولتان كبيرتان تتسمان بالتعدد الثقافي مشيرا إلى أن مصر هي أم كل الحضارات والولايات المتحدة أقدم ديمقراطية فى العالم. وأضاف أن البلدان تعملان معا وهؤلاء المصريون الأمريكيون يعدون تجسيدا لهذه العلاقة.
 
وأشاد روبرت سيلفرمان بإنجازات عدد من الأمريكيين من أصول مصرية الذين حضروا الحفل، من بينهم رجل الأعمال نجيب ساويرس، وزكي عبد الفتاح، ورامي أديب، وشيرين أحمد، ومحمد أمين، وموريس نسيم، وجورج سليم.
 
كما قامت الفنانة المصرية شيرين أحمد تغني النشيدين المصري والأمريكي في احتفال السفارة الأمريكية بعيد الاستقلال
 
وشهدت الأمسية فقرات موسيقية وثقافية وترفيهية، إلى جانب أكشاك تصوير مدعومة بالذكاء الاصطناعي أتاحت للحضور التقاط صور مستوحاة من محطات بارزة في التاريخ الأمريكي.

U.S. Embassy in Cairo Celebrates 250th Independence Anniversary with Officials, Diplomats, Politicians, and Media Figures

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo celebrated the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States during a reception hosted by Chargé d’Affaires Robert Silverman at the American University in Cairo (AUC) campus in Tahrir Square.

The event was attended by a number of Egyptian ministers, governors, senior officials, diplomats, business leaders, religious figures, media professionals, members of the Egyptian Parliament, artists, and friends of the United States. Representatives of Egyptian religious institutions also attended. The Coptic Orthodox Church was represented by His Eminence Metropolitan Markos, Metropolitan of Shubra El-Kheima, and His Grace Bishop Anba Eklimandous, General Bishop of Al-Maaza, Madinet El-Amal, East Nasr City, and Gardenia, as well as a representative of the Community Participation Committee of the Holy Synod Public Relations.

The celebration is part of the “Freedom 250” series of events organized by the U.S. Embassy throughout 2026, marking 250 years since U.S. independence and highlighting the achievements and partnerships between the United States and countries around the world, particularly Egypt.

Dr. Hossam Eissa, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, attended the event on behalf of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, conveying the Egyptian government’s congratulations to the United States—its leadership, government, and people—emphasizing the depth of Egyptian-American relations and the strategic partnership based on mutual respect and shared interests.

In his remarks, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Robert Silverman said the embassy celebrated the 250th Independence Day in an iconic venue with symbolic significance, the American University in Cairo, noting that he is himself an alumnus of the institution.

He added that Egypt and the United States share many commonalities, as both are large, culturally diverse nations, noting that Egypt is the “mother of all civilizations,” while the United States is the world’s oldest democracy. He emphasized that the two countries work closely together, and that Egyptian Americans embody this strong relationship.

Silverman also praised the achievements of several prominent Americans of Egyptian origin who attended the event, including businessman Naguib Sawiris, Zaki Abdelfattah, Ramy Adeeb, Shereen Ahmed, Mohamed Amen, Maurice Nessim, and George Selim.

Egyptian artist Shereen Ahmed performed both the Egyptian and American national anthems during the celebration.

The evening also featured musical, cultural, and entertainment performances, along with AI-powered photo booths that allowed guests to take pictures inspired by iconic moments in American history.
