انطلقت اليوم أعمال ورشة العمل تحت عنوان "النهج القائم على حقوق الإنسان في حماية وسلامة الصحفيين"، التي ينظمها المجلس القومي لحقوق الإنسان، بالشراكة مع مكتب المفوض السامي لحقوق الإنسان التابع للأمم المتحدة، وبرعاية الاتحاد الأوروبي، بمشاركة 22 صحفيًا وإعلاميًا من مختلف الصحف ووسائل الإعلام، وذلك على مدار يومين.
وافتتح فعاليات الورشة كل من السيد محمد النسور، رئيس قسم الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا بمكتب المفوض السامي لحقوق الإنسان، والأستاذ عزت إبراهيم، أمين لجنة الإعلام بالمجلس القومي لحقوق الإنسان، بحضور الأستاذة يارا قاسم، عضو المجلس.
وتهدف الورشة إلى تعزيز فهم الصحفيين والإعلاميين للنهج القائم على حقوق الإنسان في التغطية الإعلامية، والتعريف بالمعايير الدولية ذات الصلة بحرية الرأي والتعبير، وسلامة الصحفيين، ودور وسائل الإعلام في دعم حقوق الإنسان وتعزيز المشاركة المجتمعية.
كما تتناول الورشة عدداً من الموضوعات الرئيسية، من بينها الإطار الدولي لحماية حرية الرأي والتعبير، والالتزامات الواقعة على الدول في مجال حماية الصحفيين، فضلاً عن استعراض أفضل الممارسات في التغطية الإعلامية القائمة على مبادئ حقوق الإنسان، والتحديات التي تواجه الصحفيين في أداء عملهم.
وتأتي هذه الورشة في إطار الشراكة المستمرة بين المجلس القومي لحقوق الإنسان ومكتب المفوض السامي لحقوق الإنسان، والجهود المشتركة الرامية إلى بناء قدرات الإعلاميين، وتعزيز بيئة عمل آمنة وداعمة للصحفيين، بما يتوافق مع المعايير الدولية لحقوق الإنسان.
NCHR Holds Workshop on Human Rights and the Protection of Journalists in Partnership with the UN
The National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) launched a two-day workshop entitled "A Human Rights-Based Approach to the Protection and Safety of Journalists", organized in partnership with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) under the auspices of the European Union. The workshop brings together 22 journalists and media professionals representing a wide range of newspapers and media outlets.
The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Mohamed Alnsour, Head of the Middle East and North Africa Section at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Mr. Ezzat Ibrahim, NCHR board member and Chairperson of the Media Committee. The session was also attended by NCHR board member Ms. Yara Kassem.
The workshop aims to strengthen journalists and media professionals understanding of a human rights-based approach to media reporting by enhancing their knowledge of international human rights standards related to freedom of opinion and expression, the safety of journalists, and the role of the media in promoting and protecting human rights as well as fostering public participation.
The programme also addresses a number of key issues, including the international framework for the protection of freedom of expression, States obligations concerning the safety of journalists, best practices in human rights-based reporting, and the challenges faced by journalists in carrying out their professional duties.
The workshop forms part of the ongoing partnership between NCHR and OHCHR, reflecting their joint commitment to strengthening the capacities of media professionals and promoting a safe and enabling environment for journalists, in line with international human rights standards.
