Dear Mr. Klada,
I've been reading for sometime now the articles in copts.net
website, my attention to the website was from my curiosity as a
Muslim Egyptian to be familiar with the problems facing our
Christian brothers in Egypt. I was surprised and felt so angry
because of the many unjust acts that was faced by the Copts on
the hands of the government and through other ignorant bigot
Muslims and I also felt like an idiot because I didn't know what
was happening in my own country.
Regarding one of your articles about "Coptic Jokes", you have
elegantly put a disclaimer aimed for Muslim readers not to be
angry. I have to tell you that any Muslim with a slight bit of
brain in his will only be angered because of the
unjustice actions on the Copts and not from the jokes. The Jokes
themselves are very funny and clever and free of any profanity
against Muslims whatsoever! I'm know remembering the Sheikh Al
Azhar and Pope Shenouda on the plane joke and I cant keep a
straight face. You will also be surprised to know that the "Al
Omran" joke is very popular among muslims and some of us recite
it in many occasions and I remember falling down on my knees
laughing. We are truly "shaab ibn nokta".
I have been so deeply saddened by many other topics that I read
on the discriminations facts on the Coptic Egyptians and as you
saidn in your article I put myself your place and you know what?
I felt sophicated. And I will do my best to enlighten the
ignorant muslims and the prejudice and the bigots ones... we
will God willingly put an end to this discrimination and we will
fight for the day when democracy, Justice and freedom of
thoughts, speech & religions prevail on Egypt and also the day
end Islamic fanatism and extremeism imported from Wahabbis and
Sulfists that plagued our dear country and washed the true
essence of Islam. Only then our true unity as Egyptians will
come out. And I hope one day that you finally return to your
homeland embraced by your Muslim brothers even before the Copts!
Thank you and God bless you
Your Egyptian brother,
Magdy Ghorab
